Sébastien Pocognoli (born August 1, 1987) is a Belgian international left-sided player currently playing for the Belgian side, Standard Liège. The 23-year old can either play at left back or on the left wing. After being a regular in the U-21 side, Pocognoli now has five caps for the senior international side.

Early Career[]

Pocognoli began his career at the Standard Liège youth team from the age of 13. When he was 15, he left Liège to join another Belgian side, K.R.C. Genk, whom he played for until 2007. He broke into the Genk starting team after they were troubled with injury problems.

AZ and return to Liège[]

On 22 June, 2007, Pocognoli completed a move to Dutch side, AZ, after playing successfully for Genk. He won the Dutch league, and Dutch super cup with them. He then completed a transfer back to his old club Standard Liège, in January, 2010.

International Career[]

Pocognoli was a member of the Belgium squad who went to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
